SOCCER 5 a SIDE TOURNAMENT SPRING - 2011

Sports Association of Russian Speakers in Ireland would like to welcome your team to take part in Europe’s only one-day five-a-side Ambassador Cup challenge!

The winning team will be presented with the unique Ambassador Cup, issued by the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Ireland. The tournament will take place on April 23 from 12 pm to 6 pm in Astropark, Greenhills Road, Tallaght, and Dublin 24

The cup itself will be held in Ireland’s Russian embassy, but will be given over to the winning team for a short period of time. It will then return to the Embassy until future tournaments.

The rules of the game

The number of players is from 5 to 10. Only four players and a goalkeeper from each side can be on the pitch at any given time. Three more players can be used for substitutions. The game consists of two halves, 10 minutes each, and a break of 5 minutes. Prohibited: handball, slide tackle, pushing, swearing, kicking, disrespectful and offensive behaviour during the match. Players can get red cards for all of the above.

After the initial draw teams are divided into four groups where play-off matches will be held. Then two divisions are formed – the Senior Cup division, consisting of the top teams, and the Junior Cup division, consisting of the lower-tier sides. Games in these divisions will be held according to the Olympic system. «Astropark» have kindly provided us with referees for the tournament. The top three sides in each division will get medals, while the overall division winners will get the s Senior and the Junior Ambassador Cups respectively.

This event is sponsored by the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Ireland. It is supported by CYSS and ethnic media.

Our photographers will take pictures of each team before the start of the games and after the tournament commemorative calendars and posters will be issued. Possibly, the games will also be covered by Irish media.

All so we will sell BBQ and drinks from the shop.

PS: Teams must arrive on time, at 11.30 am sharp, for checks, registration and photo shoots. In case you are more than 20 minutes late we will have to exclude your side from taking part in the competition.
