BC Ballon Basketball

Last weekend BC Ballon where playng at the pre season tournament in Dublin. Friday Ballon after winning the first half of the game lost at the end to the last season Mens Superleague Cup winners UCD by 11 points. Ballon was missing 4 players from their usual top 6 and it gave opportunity to the new players to show that they are ready to fight for their place in Ballon team.

Saturday Ballon met the Killester team who recently had beaten EFBL Lithuanian selection by 5points. To the surprise to all expect Ballon players game was won by 20points for the Ballon team.

Last game of the tournament was played on Sunday againts DCU/St.Vincents. After the heated first two quarters game was stopped and Ballon players left the court. Tournament was orginised as part of the referees development before the new season and unfortunatly referees who where doing the game in the beginning where not up to the job. Later therewas reached agreement to continue the game and last two quarters where played as the new game. DCU won by 8points and Ballon finished tournament on 3. place.
New season for the Ballon team is starting in October.

Toomas Ilves has taken on new challange for the season 2011/12 and agreed to fill the position of the Head Coach for the Liffey Celtic  Irish Ladies Superleague team. Team is based in Leixlip, Co. Kildare. Its the first season for the Liffey Celtic at that level and expetations are set to be in top half of the 10 team league
